The Electroneum blockchain, in an extraordinary move, has become the first cryptocurrency in the world to enable electricity top-ups with using its ETN token at a tap of a button in four African countries including Nigeria, Mali, Senegal, and The Gambia.
This was revealed through an official statement, sent to NewsLogical by the Electroneum development team on Wednesday.
It is important, however, to mention that the Electroneum Blockchain, through the adoption and real-world use case of its ETN token, has been working effortlessly to integrate cryptocurrencies into every day event.
The award-winning cryptocurrency, which is barely 30 months since its launch in November 2017, has shown huge potentials as about 2,000 service providers and merchants across the globe accept its native token, ETN as payments.
Furthermore, Electroneum’s ETN is in usage in over 140 countries to purchase mobile airtime and data from within the Electroneum app.
The Electroneum founder and CEO, Richard Ells, describes Electroneum as a handful of cryptocurrencies, which is building an ecosystem with real-world use cases and has been adding value to more than 2.6 million verified users of its app.
Ells boasted that about 185,000 mobile top-ups have been transacted over the Electroneum mobile app.
He further pointed out that the company, as part of its groundbreaking strategy to spark up the adoption of ETN, has extended to provide electricity top-up services in Nigeria, Mali, Gambia, and Senegal.
Electricity top-up from within the Electroneum app according to Ells, is very easy.
Users at the tap of a button, select electricity top-ups, and proceed to enter the amount of electricity and phone number for notification.
There are ongoing developmental plans channeled to gradually expand the electricity top-up service to other countries in Africa and beyond, reports Ells.
Electroneum Powered Platform, AnyTask, records 460K users in three months
A global freelance platform, powered by the Electroneum Blockchain, AnyTask, barely three months after its launch, has recorded over 460,000 registered users, which comprise both sellers and buyers.
Also, about 6,500 tasks have been listed on the platform by freelancers under categories like whiteboard animation, video editing, website design, and tech support, among others.
AnyTask is regarded as the first freelance platform that doesn’t deduct commissions from freelancers earning or requires them to have a PayPal or a bank account, hence the platform caters for the needs of billions of people who are underserved or unbanked.
