How Cashtags Work?
The idea behind Cashtags is simple and useful. When users type a ticker or even a contract address, the app suggests matching assets. This helps avoid confusion and ensures users select the right token or stock. Once selected, tapping the cashtag opens a page. This page shows live price data, charts and posts from the community.
So, users can track the market and read opinions in one place. So, users can track the market and read opinions in one place. For example, if someone taps $BTC, they can see the current price. Including chart movement and what others are saying about it, all inside the app.
Built for Traders and Crypto Users
According to Nikita Bier, the goal is clear. He said that people already use X to follow financial news and make decisions. Billions of dollars move based on what users read on the platform.
So, adding charts and data directly into posts makes sense. Instead of jumping between apps, users can now stay in one place. This is especially helpful for traders and crypto users who need quick updates. In short, X wants to become a one-stop place for finance conversations and actions.
Trading Feature Comes to Canada First
There is also an extra feature for users in Canada. X has partnered with Wealthsimple to test a trading option. Now, when Canadian users tap a cashtag, they may see a “Trade” button. This lets them move directly from discussion to trading. So, users can go from reading about an asset to buying it in just a few taps. This feature is still in testing. But it shows where things are heading. The goal is to make trading simple and fast, right inside the app.
More Updates Coming Soon
Right now, Cashtags are limited to iPhone users in two countries. However, X plans to expand soon. X plans to bring this feature to Android, web users, and more countries very soon. That means more people will be able to track markets directly inside the app. Over time, X may add more tools and features around trading and finance.
A Step Toward an “All-in-One” Platform
This launch is not just about charts. It is part of a bigger plan. X wants to become more than a social media app. It wants to combine news, data, and actions in one place. Instead of just talking about markets, users can now see what’s happening and even trade.
For now, it is just the beginning. But it shows how social platforms are slowly turning into financial hubs. In simple words, X is trying to make finance faster, easier and more connected to everyday conversations.
