The Hashgraph Group (THG), a Swiss Web3 technology company within the Hedera ecosystem, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) of the Philippines. The partnership aims to promote the use of Web3 and distributed ledger technologies as part of the country’s digitalization and financial inclusion strategy.
The Philippines continues to develop as a regional center for blockchain adoption, supported by its young population and government initiatives focused on transparency and efficiency. DOST’s role includes integrating technologies such as blockchain and AI to foster innovation and create economic opportunities.
Under the agreement, DOST and THG will work together to strengthen Web3 adoption across academic, industrial, and government sectors. The cooperation covers education programs, technical training, and the development of blockchain-based applications. Six regional DOST offices have already joined the initiative, including those in Manila, Central and Western Visayas, and Davao.
During the signing ceremony in Switzerland, THG presented its Hedera-based carbon bank and discussed plans to apply Web3 in sustainability, agriculture, and tourism. The collaboration also includes venture-building initiatives and startup support, aiming to prepare Filipino professionals and businesses for participation in the global Web3 economy.
