The number of active users on the Starknet network dropped sharply after the announcement of the airdrop.
According to Starkscan, the figure stands at 84,260 at the time of writing. Moreover, on Feb. 14, 2024, the number of active wallets in the network crossed the 225,000 mark. Then, the project team announced that on Feb. 20, it would distribute tokens, and 1.3 million users would receive rewards.
The decrease in activity on Starknet could be due to community dissatisfaction regarding the criteria for receiving an airdrop. Thus, those who made five or more transactions over three or more separate months totaling at least $100 and had 0.005 ETH or more in their wallet before Nov. 15, 2023, were eligible to receive rewards in STRK tokens.
One X user claimed that he did not receive tokens due to having less than 0.005 Ethereum (ETH) in his wallet, but he transacted thousands of dollars and added liquidity to the network.

Another community member called Starknet “the biggest scam of the layer two systems.”
Yes, #STRK is the BIGGEST scam of the #Layer2 system. 0.005E farce, we burned over 0.1E in gas fees and bought domain names, added liquidity, but just because the balance was not enough 0.005E, we completely eliminated it, don't compare with $Sui because Sui does it for free, and…

The Starknet team later reported that some netizens were “left behind due to certain criteria” and that they were working to resolve these issues.
“We’re listening, we hear you all, and thanks to your digging and feedback, community outreach helped us to identify a few necessary changes prior to distribution. We’re grateful for this input and have made some important updates thanks to your participation.”
