Casio, the well-known Japanese watch brand, has teamed up with Polygon Labs, the Layer-2 scalability platform for the Ethereum blockchain, to introduce virtual G-SHOCK watches on Polygon's protocols. This exciting collaboration will also include the launch of an NFT-based collection of community access passes.

Starting on September 23, users will have the opportunity to claim one of the 15,000 NFT-based G-SHOCK creator passes. These passes will grant access to a dedicated Discord channel created specifically for the project.

If you're already registered for a CASIO ID on the company's membership site, you can participate in the pre-distribution phase from September 23-26. Afterward, the public distribution phase will take place from September 26-29.

Casio's recent move into the world of virtual assets and NFTs follows their trademark application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, which covers virtual clothing, NFT-backed media, watches, and virtual goods stores.

G-SHOCK, known for its shock-resistant watches, has been Casio's flagship product, and this new venture into NFT-based creator passes is a clear attempt to tap further into its popularity.
As part of this initiative, Casio will invite users to propose design concepts for the G-SHOCK creator passes.
Community members will also have the opportunity to vote for their preferred design. The winning design will then be integrated into a variant of the NFT pass.

Casio chose to partner with Polygon for this venture due to the platform's capability to handle rapid transactions efficiently. This ensures a smooth process for creating and managing NFTs while also maintaining an eco-friendly, carbon-neutral footprint.

Takahashi Oh, Senior General Manager of Timepieces at Casio, expressed the company's commitment to making the user experience as frictionless and simple as possible.
"The goal is for the company and users to work together and develop the G-SHOCK brand, which celebrated its 40th anniversary this year."
Casio joins a growing list of brands, including Starbucks, Adidas, and DraftKings, that have chosen to launch their initiatives on Polygon Labs, showcasing the platform's popularity and effectiveness in the blockchain space.
