Press: Japanese village to hold its own ICO
The Japanese village of Nishiawakura (Okayama Prefecture) is going to hold its own ICO, as reported by the digital currency-focused media outlets citing the official announcement.
This populated area has refused to become a part of the neighbouring city in the past, it has also inserted the narrative about self-sustainability in the materials related to the ICO. Evidently, the village needs financial support. The tokens will be called Nishiawakura Coin (NAC) with local authorities acting as an issuer.
In another hemisphere, the United States city of Berkeley has decided to use the traditional bonds, although reviving the concept with the help of blockchain technologies. Local institute employs blockchain specialists who became the technical consultants of the project.
Last year, the messages on Catalonia holding its own ICO after the advice of Vitalik Buterin (Ethereum creator) have not been confirmed - Bitnewstoday has suspected a fake from the start considering how the supposed adviser always expressed his doubts in the mechanism of modern initial coin offerings. Since the news, that pro-independence community has seen a major downgrade.
