According to research company Gartner, intelligent, digital, and mesh are three themes that form the basis for technology trends in the world in 2017.

Artificial intelligence becomes more advanced and reaches out

Development of machine learning increases “mental capacity” of artificial intelligence and expands its apps and services. Neuron networks breakthrough will help to create systems that understand, learn the environment, make certain conclusions and change their behavior depending on knowledge received.

Fast development of intelligent apps is expected in the near future to allow every human to have a virtual assistant performing some operational tasks.

Through this technological development not only smartphones but also some domestic appliances will be smarter. Scientists work on improvement of intelligent things and their interaction system (Internet of Things), within which they will exchange information, predict human thoughts and facilitate human life.

Introduction of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), which is going to network industrial vehicles and equipment, will introduce huge changes in economy. It is expected that transformation of the relationship between humans and production machines will increase equipment operation quality, minimize downtime and incidents and make industrial systems more predictable, efficient and competitive.

Scientists work on virtual cloning

Dynamic models of sensor-based things and systems are planned to be wide-spread. In other words, digital twins of equipment, environment, etc. will be created. For example, a virtual copy of a real communication system can be developed. Sensors will constantly update information on system status and personnel will receive information about its failure from a system twin instead of visual inspection. Such technology will increase quality of systems and processes and also reduce costs.

In addition to this, by the first half of 2020, scientists plan to digitize the base of human cortex. That is why it is quite realistic that a digital human clone can be created in the future.

Virtual reality is closer

According to Gartner analysts, technologies of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are more available year after year. Also VR and AR field of application expands. At the moment they (VR and AR) are used for education purposes, in design, modeling, oil production, etc.

Humans will talk to things one language

At present efforts are underway to create a dynamic network within which a human will be able to communicate with things, processes, services, etc. Such networks will support intelligent digital ecosystems.

Also conversational systems will develop improving communication quality between chatbots and humans.

Blockchain will increase transparency

According to Gartner specialists, blockchain is a promising technology, which will find application in optimizing large-scale national and corporate resources and will help to increase transparency of transactions and interactions.

Technologies are going to change traditional lifestyle pattern

Advanced technologies capable to better recognize images in combination with development of wireless interaction between devices will stimulate implementation of “swarm intelligence” in transportation systems. As a result car driving will become autonomous of human drivers and unmanned vehicles will be widely used.

Besides this, “swarm intelligence” together with introduction of IIoT and digital twins will find application in power generation helping to optimize power distribution, increase energy saving and energy efficiency.

Experts lay hopes on using “swarm intelligence” in search-and-rescue operations. It is supposed that “clever robots” will expand geography and increase speed of search and also improve quality of search operations and reduce number of victims including rescue workers, which is of great importance.

As the history shows, those survive who can better adapt to new realities and conditions. That is why the future belongs to the companies that can rebuild their processes in the context of technological development.
