Texas Duo Charged After Fake Delivery Attempt Targets San Jose Crypto Holder

Two Texas men have been charged in connection with an attempted robbery at a San Jose home that police say targeted a resident known to hold cryptocurrency.

Damian Vielma, 20, and Jeremiah Clybourn, 19, allegedly posed as delivery workers during the Sept. 5 incident, according to San Jose police. One man was wearing a ski mask and displayed a firearm before both suspects fled, police said.

Police Trace Suspects to Dallas

The resident was away when the suspects arrived, so the robbery was not carried out. Investigators later used automated license-plate cameras to identify the vehicle linked to the incident.

Detectives also connected the men to similar cases in several jurisdictions, including Atherton, California. Police said those incidents involved victims believed to hold significant amounts of cryptocurrency. Investigators are examining how information about potential victims’ crypto holdings reached the suspects.

Arrest Follows Multi-Agency Investigation

On Sept. 24, San Jose detectives located both suspects in Dallas with help from federal and local agencies. A search found firearms and other evidence investigators linked to the San Jose case.

The men were booked into Dallas County Jail and face charges including attempted robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle and firearm-related offenses.

The case comes amid growing concerns over physical attacks targeting crypto holders. Chainalysis estimated that more than $30 million was stolen in violent crypto attacks through mid-2026, while attempted and recovered cases brought total exposure to about $107 million.
