A £10,000 reward has been offered for information about a targeted home robbery involving cryptocurrency in Birmingham.
Crimestoppers announced the reward on September 24 as authorities continue investigating the attack on a young couple in Smith’s Wood. The charity says qualifying information must lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
The incident happened at about 5:20 p.m. on December 13, 2025. The couple was returning home when three men left a nearby vehicle and followed them through their front door.
Police believe the robbery may have been planned and targeted. Investigators say the men demanded a substantial cryptocurrency transfer after entering the property.
Attackers Forced Cryptocurrency Transfer
According to Crimestoppers, another person relayed instructions to the attackers through a video call during the robbery.
The husband suffered serious injuries after being assaulted. His wife, who was pregnant at the time, was threatened with a knife. The couple was expecting their third child.
The attackers left after obtaining the cryptocurrency and several high-value watches. Investigators believe they escaped in a black BMW X3.
Authorities have not disclosed the cryptocurrency involved or the monetary value transferred. They have also not published blockchain addresses linked to the stolen funds.
Police Seek Four People Over Birmingham Robbery
Investigators believe four people participated in the attack, including the person communicating remotely through the video call.
The three men who entered the home are believed to be in their twenties. They wore face coverings and hoods, which limited the available physical descriptions.
One suspect was described as a Black man with a small diagonal scar beneath his left eyebrow. Crimestoppers has also released CCTV footage showing the forced entry.
West Midlands Police repeated the appeal on September 24 and confirmed the details of the cryptocurrency demand, injuries, and suspected getaway vehicle.
£10,000 Reward Depends on Information Provided
Crimestoppers says the reward is worth up to £10,000 and applies only to information submitted directly to the charity.
Information supplied directly to police does not qualify for the Crimestoppers reward. The charity requires information to contribute to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
