The Algorand Foundation, a non-profit supporting the Algorand blockchain, and Pera Wallet, an Algorand-based crypto wallet provider, have launched a decentralized passkey manager using Algorand’s Liquid Auth standard. The tool allows users to store passkeys directly in their crypto wallet and use them to log into websites without relying on centralized authenticator apps.

Liquid Auth, first introduced in 2024, enables users to sign in to Web2 websites through their Pera Wallet instead of using passwords or third-party login services. The system is designed to offer secure credential management while preserving user privacy.

The Algorand Foundation plans to promote Liquid Auth as an open standard that other wallets and platforms can adopt. Although the feature is launching within Pera Wallet, the technology is open-source and can be integrated by any wallet on any blockchain.
