A video gamer and Twitch streamer called Sick_Nerd received a whopping $73000 worth of Bitcoin in donations when he was playing the game Runescape.
Sick_Nerd was live streaming on January 11th as usual when all of a sudden he received 20 Bitcoins in donations. When he converted it into the Dollar amount it was worth approximately $73,000 which at first he thought was a prank of some sort. However later he realized that when a donation is made in Bitcoin it is hard to fake it, unlike PayPal donations which are known to be fake sometimes on Twitch.
He wrote on Twitter:

Thank you to my mysteriously benefactor whoever you are, genuinely a life changing amount of money that I or nobody deserves but look what happened.

The Bitcoin donation was made by a user with the handle called “lightpuma”. The user sent over 20 BTC in multiple installments which summed up to a total of $73,000. The game he was playing was Runescape (Old school Runescape) which has won several awards. At one point the multiplayer game was recognized by the Guinness book of world records for most users surpassing over 250 Million users.

The video streaming platform Twitch started allowing Cryptocurrency donations in June last year. The streaming giant has partnered with Streamlabs to enable donations in Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH) and Litecoin (LTC).

“bitcoin is only used by criminals and terrorists” – generic media outlet. My ass. The biggest usage of btc is charity and tipping. I’m so proud of this community.
But 20btc? Man I hope to I ever get to own 0.1btc.
Another redditor called araldor1 commented:
Usually when I donation like this happens on Paypal it’s a fake donation and the fee is refunded. Obviously with Bitcoin this isn’t an issue.
Pretty cool either way. I wish someone would send me 20 BTC.
