Frax, a financial technology company, has had its application for the .frax internet domain published by ICANN as part of its 2026 program for new top-level domains. If approved, .frax would become a globally recognized domain, similar to .com and .org. Frax is the first crypto company to have an application for its own top-level domain revealed by ICANN.
The company plans to connect traditional internet domains with blockchain-based naming services. Users would be able to register and manage .frax domains through Frax Name Service (FNS) on Fraxtal, Frax’s blockchain, while keeping the domains accessible through the global Domain Name System.
FNS registrations would also contribute to the Frax Burn Engine, which permanently removes FRAX tokens from circulation. This means domain activity could be linked to the token’s supply. According to the company’s plan, this will allow the token to gain additional value as the popularity of domains grows.
