Axie Infinity Team Provides Major Land Development Update

Sky Mavis, the startup behind the Ethereum-based collectibles game Axie Infinity, recently detailed the development status of the game’s tokenized land system.

In the update, the team provided an inside look into everything from what the land gameplay will look like to the planned system for a map editor, as well as the process of placing structures on the land.

Bringing a fully functional land system to the Axie Infinity universe requires a balancing act of factors, like performance and the rapidly expanding in-game economy.

“The design and development of our land system is a monumental task,” states Sky Mavis. “Much of the work that’s been done is related to laying the foundation of Lunacia. This means getting the core building blocks ready so that we can add complexity and advanced interactions on top.”

From a timeline perspective, the Sky Mavis team wants to get an early build-out to the public as soon as possible. The first demo will include things like collecting basic resources, structure building and possibly even PvE Chimera battles.

At present, there is no definitive release date but the team plans to provide another update near the end of June. Until then, gamers can pick up land plots in the Axie marketplace.
