The latest media rating of popular people in the cryptocurrency industry made by Cryptonews.net — is already here! Our team analyzed media content for 2023 in the English version of the app and conducted an additional comparative analysis with previous periods. That’s how the TOP 54 list of crypto people of the past year was compiled.
Description of methodology
As it was before, we stick to the “Mighty Deck” metaphor — meaning that the crypto market is a big deck of cards that gets shuffled every year. This is the reason why there are exactly 54 people in the final rating, according to the number of cards in the deck. However, in order to create a final short list, we needed to study the mentions of all people in all media content published in our app. There were several thousand people named or mentioned in the news.
To analyze such an impressive data volume, the team developed a system of automatic and manual selection. Below we present several parameters according to which the final points in the ratings of each character were obtained:

Conclusions that can be drawn for 2023
2023 was not too outstanding for the crypto industry and is a logical continuation of 2022. This is reflected in the constancy of the top three people — Bankman, Zhao and Musk continue to be the most mentioned persons in the crypto world. In general, the Binance exchange and its top officials were in the spotlight due to litigation and conflicts with regulators in 2023. The culmination was the resignation of Changpeng Zhao and the appointment of Richard Teng as CEO of the exchange.
