The co-inventor of Ripple’s Interledger Protocol (ILP) has just announced his exit from Ripple, stating that yesterday, January 2, would be his last day at the Silicon Valley-based tech company.
The ILP coinventor Evan Schwartz in a tweet announced that he would be stepping away from Ripple blockchain firm. Schwartz said he was “taking a step back from active development” on the ILP, adding that nevertheless, he would still be connected with the community and foundation of the Interledger Protocol.

Schwartz said that he would also continue to get in touch with the boards of Coil, a Ripple-backed monetization web platform.
Evan Schwartz joined Ripple since 2012, and he has since been working on the public permissionless and distributed ledger technology at the company.
Evan said yesterday marked 2328 days (or just under 6.5 years) that he joined Ripple, and at the same time the day, he’ll be leaving Ripple.
The ILP co-creator thanked everyone at the company for their support during his stay at the firm, adding that he’ll continue to help support and building the company from outside.
“Thank you to everyone who helped make it such an exciting ride; I’ll be cheering the team on from the outside. Keep on building the Internet of Value,” Evan said.
Evan, a Senior Software Engineer (Rust), is also a board member of Coil. According to his page on LinkedIn, Evans, despite taking a step away from Ripple, remains a Coil board member.
Emi Yoshikawa, the Senior Director, Global Operations and Strategic Partnerships at Ripple, thanked Evan for the huge impact he made at the company over the years, nothing that it was a privilege working with the software engineer.

Aside from Emi, a number of top personnel who have affiliation with Ripple have also dropped their messages for Evan, wishing him good in his next approach.
Evan Schwartz is the founder of The Alcohol Genome Project, The Brown Conversation, and the Co-founder of The Creative Kid Project.
In 2013, Evan bagged a bachelor of Art in Political Economy and Education at Brown University, Rhode Island, US.
