The first-ever Seoul Web3 Festival, a three-day event celebrating the potential of Web3 technologies, concluded successfully today with Cronos Labs serving as the prominent blockchain partner and jury member. The festival was organized by Seoul City, Baobab Partners, and the Seoul Design Foundation, with the support of Cronos Labs, a leading EVM-compatible layer 1 blockchain network.

Web3 Innovations Shine at Seoul Festival

The festival kicked off with a thrilling hackathon, featuring 65 teams comprising 245 talented individuals. Participants were given hands-on mentorship and technical guidance from Cronos Labs to build innovative Web3 projects on the Cronos blockchain. The goal of the hackathon was to foster creativity and collaboration within the Web3 community, ultimately driving mass adoption of decentralized technologies and making a positive impact on underprivileged communities. A distinguished panel of judges, including representatives from Cronos Labs, Crypto.com, Microsoft, Alibaba Cloud, and Ledger, meticulously assessed the projects.

The jury evaluated the submissions based on their uniqueness, potential for widespread adoption, and social impact. The top 10 projects showcased remarkable ingenuity. Among the standout prototypes were an AI-powered tool designed to remove sensitive biometric data from NFT images stored on decentralized networks, a voice identification app using AI and zero-knowledge proofs to safeguard users against phishing scams, and several DAO protocols enabling crowd-sourced reporting of natural disasters and safety hazards.

Ken Timsit, the Managing Director of Cronos Labs, expressed his gratitude for being a part of the inaugural Seoul Web3 Festival. He stated, “Cronos Labs mobilized some of our most experienced blockchain specialists in order to provide in-person support to hackathon participants. The connections forged with the local developer community are sure to create a strong pipeline of interest for the various Cronos ecosystem development programs such as the Cronos Builders Program, the Ecosystem Grant Program and the Cronos Accelerator Program.”
