Reddit Crypto Subreddits Join Forces, Go Private in API Protest

Reddit communities, including popular crypto subreddits, have decided to go private or in read-only mode for 48 hours in protest against upcoming changes to the Reddit Data API. The modifications would restrict users from freely accessing APIs and tools, impacting the ability to create and use third-party applications. Major crypto communities, such as r/Bitcoin and r/CryptoCurrency, are among those participating in the protest. The move follows Reddit's announcement in April to introduce native moderator tools, limiting the use of third-party tools. The number of inaccessible subreddits is estimated to be around 3,500, with potential for more to join the revolt.
