Cash App creator and former CTO at Square, Bob Lee reportedly died in San Francisco. The initial reports caught the instance of San Francisco Police officers responding to a call of a man stabbed on Tuesday morning at around 2:35 a.m. According to police, the 43-year-old man had stab wounds. Though he was immediately taken to the hospital, he died due to fatal life-threatening injuries.
The man was not named by police in the initial reports but sources confirmed to media that the man stabbed in San Francisco was Bob Lee.
Lee was a big name in the industry as the founder of the mobile payment service platform Cash App, Chief Product Officer of MobileCoin and Former Chief Technology Officer at Jack Dorsey created payment protocol Block Inc. He also worked at Google before joining Block for the development of the Android application.
The social media space is flooded with condolences and remembers Lee. Many prominent personalities expressed support and solace.
MobileCoin CEO, Joshua Goldbard, remembered Lee after he “passed away yesterday” in a long Twitter thread. He praised his business knowledge and said he was a “dynamo, a force of nature.” He said he will never forget Lee and there will be no one like him. “A fuller write-up will land tomorrow,” he added at the end of his post.

Elon Musk reacted to MMA fighter Jake Shields’ post consisting of a rant over the instance in San Francisco. Musk wrote “Very sorry to hear that.” He stated many people known to him were “assaulted” in the city. He called out that the “violent crime” in San Francisco is threatening and said even the attackers get immediately released after being caught.
