Nouriel Roubini, noted American economist and cryptocurrency skeptic, isn’t pulling his punches with BitMEX CEO, Arthur Hayes. In his latest tweet, Nouriel refers to Hayes as a “thug.”

Nouriel’s comments come after him and Hayes debated in Taipei where the two discussed various topics like Bitcoin and BitMEX. After the debate, Roubini accused Hayes of not releasing the unedited footage. Now, with the footage still unreleased, Nouriel took to Twitter to unveil his new platform which he says exposes “the shady rekting racket that is BitMEX run by the thug Arthur Hayes.”

My new column where I expose the shady rekting racket that is @BitMEXdotcom run by the thug @CryptoHayes: evasion of AML/KYC, front-running, insider trading, massive scale money laundering, gouging of clients, etc.

Roubini maintains that Hayes was using BitMEX to evade anti-money laundering (AML) laws/know-your-customer (KYC) policies as the exchange was using insider trading, gouging clients and laundering vast sums of money.

Roubini never misses an opportunity to voice his opinions about Bitcoin and the larger crypto market. With Bitcoin recording a 14% decline, Roubini seized the chance to call the apex cryptocurrency as well as all other “shitcoins” a joke:

Bitcoin down 14% in last day to below 9.5K! Ouch! It must hurt to get so rekt so fast! Calling bitcoin a currency - let alone 1000s of other shitcoins - is a joke: they are not a unit of account, they are not a means of payments (5tps) and no stable store of value (-14% in a day)
