Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc., the iconic global brand that manufactures premium baseball and softball equipment, is marking its entry into the world of Web3 via rare baseball gloves NFTs, the company said in a press release on Tuesday.
The company, which is the official provider of Major League Baseball equipment, is set to make the move in an inaugural NFTs release dubbed PRIMUS NFT.
Rawlings is partnering with Dream Syndicate to launch the NFT collection.
A new digital realm
According to the firm, the project involves 461 physical asset NFTs. These will come in a four-tier rarity edition and will allow holders to access the physical baseball gloves as well as to exclusive future offerings.
“The Rawlings brand is always looking to evolve, and after 135 years, we are excited to be entering a new digital realm creating NFTs tied to physical gloves, resulting in a one-of-a-kind experience for NFT holders,” said Dylan Kavanagh, the company’s VP of digital marketing.
Kavanagh added that the NFT launch allows the Rawlings to offer an avenue for its customers and community to benefit from “more tangibility and authentication” of its expansive glove collection. The project opens up the MLB products market to a new conversation, particularly via the Rawlings Discord server.
PRIMUS NFTs will be available on Opensea and interested buyers can get one with either crypto or using a credit card.
