The National Football League (NFL) will offer free commemorative tickets as NFTs for attendees of over 100 regular-season games next season. As with last year, the NFL successfully distributed more than 500,000 complimentary NFT tickets during the season.
NFL Commemorative Tickets As NFTs
The NFL in partnership with events ticketing giant Ticketmaster announced that it will offer NFT ticket stubs to attendees of more than 100 live regular season games during the 2022 season. Fans will be able to redeem a virtual commemorative ticket NFT after scanning their tickets to enter the stadium. Attendees will then be able to manage their NFTs in a dedicated NFL NFT marketplace, powered by Ticketmaster. Commenting on the development, Bobby Gallo, senior vice-president of club business development at the NFL, said:
"By utilizing emerging technology, we introduced fans to the digital realm of NFTs while building engagement, which positioned the league to explore future NFT ticketing opportunities. As we approach the 2022 NFL season, we look forward to expanding our virtual commemorative ticket offerings for over 100 games."
Season's Tickets Minted On Flow
Last season, the NFL offered virtual ticket NFT collectibles for 21 regular season games along with 12 postseason games, the Pro Bowl, and the Super Bowl. All told, the league distributed more than 500,000 total NFT ticket collectibles during the season. This season's virtual commemorative ticket NFTs will be minted on Flow. Last season's NFT ticket stubs were minted on Polygon but the league and Ticketmaster switched to Flow starting with the Super Bowl.
