Salesforce Forays Into NFT Realm
According to an official announcement, Salesforce has launched a pilot version of an NFT marketplace dubbed NFT Cloud. The platform is currently in a closed pilot and is expected to be open to all businesses in October. NFT Cloud will be a no-code platform that enables users to mint, manage and sell NFTs, said Adam Caplan, senior vice president of emerging technology at Salesforce. In an interview with TechCrunch, Caplan said. “Salesforce is seeing interest from CMOs and CDOs who are asking for help entering web3, and we are enthusiastic about bringing new innovations, products, and offerings to our customers in a way that allows them to build and maintain meaningful relationships with their customers.” Interestingly, NFT Cloud will only support energy-efficient proof-of-stake blockchains and will not support the more energy-intensive proof-of-work blockchains. This is in line with Salesforce's long-established claims to support sustainability. However, the company did not name which proof-stake blockchains it intends to support. NFT Cloud allows brands to tap Salesforce’s cloud-based tools to create and sell NFTs, engage online communities, and pull data from their offerings.
