Although Warren Buffett has made his less than favorable opinion on anything crypto abundantly clear in the past, his granddaughter, Nicole Buffett, is a big fan of crypto.
She is well known in the crypto space as a working artist who creates and sells non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Buffett was even featured on Fortune’s NFTy 50 list, which includes all the biggest and most influential players on the scene.
Buffett’s genesis collection is entitled Spirit Coins and has over $83,000 in volume on NFT marketplace OpenSea. Each sells for at least a minimum of $3,342.
For Buffett, blockchain has always been something “super incredible.” She sees the technology as a “means to making my work and sharing my work in a new context.” She also expressed her excitement about the fact that art is becoming its own currency. She also adds to this when she said that NFTs bring “artists, technologists and financial people together.”
Regarding her grandfather’s opinion on what she is doing, the young Buffett states that “[her grandfather is] happy [that she’s] doing so well.” She added, “I think the place in which my grandfather would be able to celebrate NFTs and crypto would be that it supports artists.”
She believes that this is because they come from a family full of artists. Buffett also stated that her grandfather “of all people, appreciates authenticity, integrity, and hard work. Those qualities go hand-in-hand with who an artist is and what an artist brings to our world.”
Nicole Buffett will soon have an exhibit in Omaha, and she hopes that her grandfather will check it out himself.
