Celebrating Castlevania's 35th Anniversary

After following the footsteps of video game giants like Ubisoft and Square Enix, Japanese entertainment and gaming firm Konami is the latest to enter the NFT market. To commemorate its Castlevania series, the video game publisher is releasing a series of 14 NFTs featuring scenes from early Nintendo games, as well as audio files and poster art.
Other tokens in the collection include original pixel art of Dracula’s Castle, poster art for the Game Boy Advance game Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, and audio for the recurring music theme, Vampire Killer.

The NFTs will be auctioned via the leading OpenSea marketplace, with auctions beginning on January 12 at 5 p.m. ET to January 14 at 9 p.m. ET within the United Kingdom, Japan, and the United States. Unlike other NFTs from gaming companies, the Castlevania NFTs will not have any in-game utility and just a commemoration of the series’ long-running 35th anniversary.

Castlevania is a long-running gothic horror game franchise originally launched in Japan in 1986 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Notably, Konami is also behind the success of other hit gaming franchise which includes Metal Gear Solid, Contra, Frogger, and Pro Evolution Soccer.
