The NFT collection is dubbed as the “McLaren Racing Collective”, and just like all the other NFTs by sporting teams, this collection will be used to boost fan engagement and ensure that every fan of the McLaren racing team can have a piece of the racing company.

The Director of Licensing, eCommerce eSports at McLaren Racing, Lindsey Eckhouse, commented on this launch, stated that the firm was excited to launch this collection that will enable fans to interact engagingly.

The first release of this NFT will include different virtual pieces of the MCL35M 2021 Formula one race car that was developed using the official McLaren Racing CAD. Fans who are interested in any of these parts can later purchase them.

As part of the launch of these NFTs, the F1 racing team has also stated that the team will gift away the first piece of the MCL35M racing car to the first 5000 fans willing to join this platform.

The NFT has been structured so that there are 22 virtual parts that a user needs to purchase to have the complete virtual model of the racing car. Moreover, the NFT will also be divided into five stages, with each stage coming with four different parts. The first drop of this NFT collectable will be available on October 24.

The exciting part of this NFT collection to fans of Formula 1 cars is that the first person who successfully acquires all the parts needed and assembles the digital race car will get a chance to get a sponsored tour to a 2022 Formula 1 Grand Prix.

McLaren Racing joins the growing list of sporting teams looking towards NFTs to boost fan engagement and gain a new revenue stream.

NFTs are parts of digital content stored in blockchain within blocks that use cryptography to prevent alteration. NFTs have boomed this year, especially after many people started making record profits from these digital assets.

One of the most notable NFTs in the market currently is the one by Tyson Fury, a sport NFT that features the lineage of this professional boxer. These NFTs were sold at around $1 million during an auction.

Tom Brady, a football sporting legend in the US, also announced the launch of the Autograph NFT platform. This NFT platform has made major partnerships in the sector, having partnered with the Lionsgate movie studio and DraftKings, an online gaming company.

One of the most popular innovations in the sporting sector regarding their relationship with the crypto sector is the Socios platform. Socios is a platform that allows fans to purchase fan tokens that they can use to boost engagement on the platform. Those who hold fan tokens get rights to vote for minor gaming decisions such as jersey choice.
