The American multinational company Coca-Cola announced the launch of its first NFT collection, Masterpiece, as part of the industry giant embracing non-fungible tokens. The company introduced the NFT collection on Coinbase’s Layer 2 blockchain, Base, in connection with its Onchain Summer event.
According to the official statement released by the platform on August 13, the Masterpiece collection includes classic masterpieces like Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” and Johannes Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring.” The collection also incorporates the contemporary works of artists like Aket and Vikram Kushwah. The statement read:
The Masterpiece collection uniquely brings together iconic artworks along with new works from emerging talents, all intertwined with the iconic Coca-Cola bottle.
As the collection presents a diverse range of works that blends the artistic genius of traditional and contemporary artisans from different corners of the world, it bestows an opportunity for them to exhibit their talents across the globe. Fatma Ramadan, a visual artist from Egypt, noted, “I’m proud to be a part of Masterpiece because my work will be shown alongside a diverse group of artists from different countries.”
In addition, the company revealed that these art pieces were once featured in Coca-Cola’s Masterpiece Global Campaign, shedding light on the novel dimension the collections adopt while embracing the digital form. The company intends to make these aesthetic works accessible to art lovers who join the Onchain Summer event.
In a tweet, Coinbase celebrated the launch of Coca-Cola’s Masterpiece, stating, “Coca-Cola is bringing their Global Masterpiece campaign onchain with iconic works from leading artists.”
