The NFT space keeps evolving as more mainstream institutions keep joining the market. In that context, Ubisoft’s Rabbids continue setting standards in the world of NFTs. In an interesting move for the gaming world, Ubisoft has confirmed its partnership with Reddit to provide free Rabbid-themed NFT avatars for Reddit users.

The digital collectibles are available on Polygon and they show Rabbids in different poses and outfits. Among these designs are a somehow disgruntled knight wielding a plunger together with a cheerful unicorn rabbit that is equipped with a golden plunger. These strange but delightful weapons harken back to the early days of the Rabbids games.

Who knew a plunger was only what the avatars needed?

Reddit’s NFT Ecosystem

It is not just a fun novelty for Reddit users, it represents a considerable development in the growing adoption of nonfungible tokens by huge gaming firms and social media platforms. When Reddit launched their ‘Snoo’ NFT avatars in July 2022, users rushed to purchase them, resulting in an impressive brand NFT launch. Notably, all “Unicorn Rabbid” and “Plunger Rabbid” avatars have already been acquired at the time of publication.

Snoo NFTs, mostly inspired by Reddit’s humanoid alien mascot, have created a massive market cap of more than $330 million. Moreover, Reddit has released at least 13.5 million Polygon NFTs to date across over 9.7 million unique wallets, with most of them being gifts for Reddit users. Reddit’s NFTs have also managed to generate at least $32.6 million in total secondary sales volume in almost 300,000 transactions.

Ubisoft’s Increasing Ventures Into The Blockchain World

The initiative is designed to highlight how Ubisoft and Reddit are supporting digital ownership via nonfungible tokens. Despite massive criticism for its initial Tezos nonfungible tokens in the PC version of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Ubisoft seems to be strong and not backing down.

In that context, the recent Assassin’s Creed “Smart Collectibles” launch in partnership with Integral Reality Labs (IRL) shows that the studio’s continuous commitment to exploring the possibilities that come with blockchain technology is unwavering.

Ubisoft’s involvement with NFTs and blockchain is nothing new. The Rabbids were part of a charity-oriented crypto token game for UNICEF in 2020. Also, the Rabbids were the first Ubisoft game characters to get the NFT treatment in The Sandbox.

The partnership between Ubisoft and Reddit opens the way for more integration of NFTs in social media platforms, underlining the ever-changing role of digital ownership in such spaces.
