The e-commerce giant Amazon has officially jumped on the NFT bandwagon, an email sent out to at least one customer suggests.

According to the email, Amazon has already launched some type of “digital token” that can be stored in a “gallery.” The digital tokens also appear to be something that can be bought and sold on the platform, with Amazon having the ability to lock and unlock the tokens to make them available for trading.

The email added that users will need to “register as a reseller” before NFTs can be listed for sale.

The news was first reported by CoinDesk after one of their employees received the email.

Amazon has not yet commented on the news, but the company’s CEO, Andy Jassey, in an interview last year hinted that Amazon has found NFTs to be interesting.

“I think NFTs have really started to take off […] I expect that NFTs will continue to grow very significantly,” Jassey said at the time. He added that “it’s possible” that Amazon will start selling NFTs at some point “down the road.”

The email that appears to confirm Amazon’s NFT plan follows months of rumors about Amazon’s crypto plans.

Several unconfirmed media reports have suggested that Amazon is working on an NFT project, with one report suggesting it could be a Web3 gaming initiative where players can claim free NFTs.

Another report have said Amazon is working on an NFT marketplace. Citing anonymous sources, the report claimed the marketplace will be launched April 24 and that it would be called “Amazon Digital Marketplace.”

Amazon itself has never confirmed any of the reports.
