As we know, Anthony Hopkins, the Welsh actor, director and producer, has long been a big supporter of the NFT and metaverse wolds as well as Web3 more generally. Indeed, two-time Academy Award winner, composer and artist, Sir Anthony Hopkins has joined forces with premiere Web3 entertainment company Orange Comet to create The Eternal NFT Collection.
Through this groundbreaking collaboration, Sir Anthony expands his artistic expression in the metaverse in a way that is entirely his own. The latest news comes from Hopkins’ own official Twitter profile, in which he writes:
Over the last few years, I’ve been composing this piano piece…
Today I am titling it “Eternal” in gratitude to all The Eternal NFT collectors.
Your support and engagement continue to inspire me. Hope you enjoy it. @orangecometnft @opensea pic.twitter.com/QHtNUYo2Z4— AHopkins.eth (@AnthonyHopkins) February 1, 2023
Anthony Hopkins and The Eternal NFT collection
Thus, not only the commitment to The Eternal NFT collection, now there is also the piano piece written and unreleased by Hopkins himself as a thank you to all those who have helped make The Eternal NFT a prestigious and recognized collection.
Specifically, The Eternal Collection conceptualizes the very different characters Sir Anthony has played throughout his illustrious film career, drawing its powerful energy from his unique and vibrant approach to art.
Through a series of thought-provoking images and animations, this NFT collection immortalizes Sir Anthony Hopkins’ diverse archetypal interpretations of The Eternal: The Jester, The Lover, The Rebel, The Hero, The Ruler, The Sage, The Magician, The Giver, The Explorer, and The Creator.
Moreover, the collaboration of The Eternal NFT was sanctioned together with OrangeComet, a team of Web3 creators who have already worked on lofty projects. These include “Dreams out of this world” with astronaut Scott Kelly, and the various official collections for the famous TV series “The Walking Dead.”
Thus, together with expert creators, Anthony Hopkins chose ten archetypes-models to sum up his career in the film world. The names of the chosen models recall some of the most renowned characters played by the actor from “The Silence of the Lambs.” Indeed, Hannibal himself was among the most expensive NFTs in the collection. The presentation took place via a very eye-catching trailer, available on Youtube.
In addition, Sir Anthony Hopkins is also promoting the collaboration with Inner-City Arts. In line with their mission to engage young people in the creative process in order to shape a society of creative, confident and collaborative individuals, he pledged a donation from the proceeds of The Eternal Collection.
To reiterate his views on NFT and the metaverse, Hopkins had in fact stated the following in a press release:
“The metaverse offers an incredible opportunity to connect with an audience in a completely different way. Taking my art to the next level, with NFT as a canvas, is truly an exhilarating proposition. I’m probably the oldest guy in the NFT community and on social media, it just goes to show that anything is possible at any age.”
Not only NFTs, Anthony Hopkins has also adopted the name Ethereum
In the past few months, Anthony Hopkins has publicly shared his Ethereum Name Service (ENS) name and asked Jimmy Fallon, Snoop Dogg, and Reese Witherspoon for advice on NFT purchases.
AHopkins.eth is Hopkins’ ENS name, which is connected to Hopkins’ cryptocurrency wallet, just as adopted by comedian and TV host Jimmy Fallon.
In fact, Fallon himself was the first to respond to Hopkins’ request for advice on NFT purchases by stating:
“I like your reflection photo. There are a lot of great artists out there and overall it’s a fun community. But, as the great Aaron Neville once said, “I don’t know much, but I do know that I love you.” And that might be all you need to know. DM me.”
Moreover, the famous Hollywood star is not exactly new in this area. In this regard, long ago Hopkins starred in ‘Zero Contract,’ a film distributed through NFT on Vuele’s film platform.
Disputes between US authority and celebrities entangled with NFTs
Over the years, numerous US entertainment figures have been accused of publicizing the purchase of certain NFTs and cryptocurrencies illegally. These include Madonna, Post Malone, Kim Kardashian, Shaquille O’Neal, Steph Curry and Tom Brady.
Their names appear in the papers of lawsuits in the area in which they are accused of promoting NFTs seemingly spontaneously and disinterestedly, when in fact they allegedly received payments from the companies that produced them and, therefore, should have explicitly stated that the promotion was an advertisement.
Now, the celebrities, some of whom had signed multimillion-dollar advertising deals, are under the lens of US authorities, who are analyzing the nature of the deals and fining those who failed to disclose the commercial nature of the promotion.
One of the complaints, the Wall Street Journal explains, is against the tech company Yuga Labs, which develops NFTs. Among the dozen celebrities facing charges of violating California’s consumer protection law is Madonna, who ended up in the spotlight because of a tweet in which she sang the praises of an NFT from the Bored Ape Yacht Club series:
I finally entered the MetaVerse…,……….. My very own Ape! 🦧 Thanks @moonpay 🪄 We all need protection from Evil Eye. 🧿 pic.twitter.com/We5p9iy4hS
— Madonna (@Madonna) March 25, 2022
However, Madonna, as well as several other celebrities, apparently received payment for the promotion offered. For their part, the woman’s lawyers claim that Madonna paid for the token.
It will be the authorities who will shed light on the case that has just broken out. However, ever since the collapse of FTX, which has also been mentioned in some of the complaints, the crypto world needs to be very careful in taking its steps to prove that it is worthy of staying out of the negative media spotlight it has ended up in.
