The launch of Adidas first NFT line of wearables, a new, interoperable virtual product category pushes the brand’s efforts to improve its community-based, member-first, open metaverse vision.

Following a teaser campaign with the Adidas Discord group, the virtual collection was revealed and is now accessible to the wallets of existing Phase 2 Capsule NFT holders.

The 16-piece collection represents a creative and cultural turning point in the brand’s history, uniting past and future, virtual and physical elements, communities and artists, culture and identity.

Speaking about the launch, Erika Wykes-Sneyd, Vice President of the Adidas studio (Three Stripes Studio) said that this collection symbolizes a more active community of holders. She went on to say that:

“With our community and creator ecosystem at the core, Adidas will explore every viable utility, platform, and experience within Web3 to unlock new possibilities for our wearables, with a focus on tangible value and immutable utility for our community members. No matter what, no matter where – Adidas is synonymous with the boundary breakers. Now, in whatever realities they choose to inhabit.”

In the latest NFT offering, every piece is compatible with other identity-based projects and worlds, and can be worn by virtual avatars via the PFP dressing tool. The virtual gear is able to adapt and respond to various metaverse environments.

With a variety of dynamic designs, the collection itself looks futuristic. In addition, adidas demonstrated the brand’s creativity by being inspired with the ever-changing metaverse worlds. The gear was branded with names such as “WallRunner”, “P.F.D. – Personal Flotation Device”, and “Space Crystal”.

The collection includes three limited edition creator-led wearables as a tribute to Adidas’ earliest Web3 partners. Each one exhibits the originality of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), Gmoney, and Punks Comics.
