  • Coca-Cola joins the NFT ride.
  • The brand will be auctioning its NFT collection on the OpenSea marketplace.
  • Fans can place ETH bids starting from July 30 till August 2, 2021.

Like many global leading brands, Coca-Cola has also gotten on the NFT bandwagon. The soft drink titan shares its plan to release a collection of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). Additionally, it said that proceeds will go to Special Olympics International.

In detail, the brand will release its NFT collection on the OpenSea marketplace during a three-day auction. The bidding will go from July 30, 2021, to August 2, 2021.

In particular, Tafi — the digital designer, will be partnering with Coca-Cola to make its NFT collection. The idea for the NFT designs seems to have come from video-game loot boxes that contain hidden surprises. This means that only the winning bids will be able to see the final artwork.

Global Coca-Cola Trademark’s President — Selman Careaga, says each NFT marks a core element of the brand. However, to showcase them in “new and exciting ways”, these NFTs have been remade for the virtual world.

Specifically, the ‘Friendship Boxes’ will feature as the classic Coca-Cola cooler. Another includes a wearable bubble jacket. This can later be used in the virtual reality world — Decentraland. Next in line is a friendship card.

To highlight, some of the NFTs are sound visualizers. These will play the audio for nostalgic sounds. This includes that of a bottle opening, the drink poured in a glass over ice, and finally, the ‘fizz’ sound that comes with most carbonated drinks.

Careaga says the team is very excited to share its first NFTs with the ‘metaverse’. Soft drink fans can soon begin placing their bids with Ether (ETH) on the OpenSea platform to get a chance at winning these rare NFT collectibles.

Lastly, Coca-Cola confirms that proceeds from the NFT auction will go to Special Olympics International. The sports organization is known for its mission to end discrimination faced by intellectually disabled individuals in the industry.
