Mila Kunis’ animated short project “Stoner Cats” has revealed the full voice cast for the show, with the unlikely addition of Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin.

Vitalik Joins the Stoner Cats Cast

Stoner Cats, an animated short web series and brainchild of Mila Kunis, has announced the full voice cast ahead of the show’s launch on Jul. 26. Alongside voice-acting greats such as Seth McFarlane and Chris Rock, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin will also join the crew.

The story of Stoner Cats revolves around the lovable old lady Ms. Stoner and her posse of cats. Ms. Stoner’s “magic” medical marijuana gives her cats the ability to talk, setting up the plot for the show.

Buterin is listed as voicing Lord Catsington, an old taxidermied cat who provides wisdom and guidance to the other cats in the show.

Ashton Kutcher, Kunis’ husband, who is also starring in Stoner Cats, hinted at a possible collaboration with Buterin in a series of videos uploaded to Twitter last week. In the videos, Kutcher asks Kunis to explain various crypto concepts with varying degrees of success. Halfway through the first video, Buterin makes a sudden appearance, taking over from Kunis and explaining Ethereum to the audience.

Although the Stoner Cats team had already written the script for Lord Catsington before Buterin joined the project, the writers reportedly made changes to fit his personality better. Morgan Beller, a member of the Stoner Cats founding team, commented on Buterin’s role to Coindesk, stating:

“He doesn’t like cursing and his character said ‘fuck’ a few times, so he asked if they could change that and they were accommodating.”

Stoner Cats is due to launch at 5 pm EST on Jul. 26. To get access to the first five-minute episode, viewers must first mint a non-fungible token (NFT) that acts as a lifetime pass for all Stoner Cats episodes ever made. The NFTs will sell for 0.35 ETH, around $820 at the time of writing.
