Netflix K-drama hit Extraordinary Attorney Woo to launch NFT project with Polygon

The production company behind Extraordinary Attorney Woo, an ongoing South Korean drama series and one of the most-watched non-English shows on Netflix, has teamed up with Polygon to build a non-fungible token (NFT) community to advocate for awareness of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

  • AIMC, a unit of K-drama production company Astory, said in a statement shared with Forkast that it plans to establish an NFT project called “Extraordinary Whales Club” to engage fans of the show and increase public awareness of ASD.
  • The company will also set up a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) to raise charity funds to support ASD.
  • Extraordinary Attorney Woo tells the story of an autistic lawyer who’s fond of whales and often finds enlightenment from the creatures when she deals with legal cases.
  • The Korean entertainment industry is actively entering the Web 3.0 space. In May, the Sandbox said it partnered with Studio Dragon, a K-drama production company behind titles Crash Landing on You, Sweet Home and Kingdom: Ashin of the North, to build a K-drama metaverse.
