President Joe Biden has issued an order that blocks Mineone Partners Ltd., a Chinese-backed cryptocurrency mining company, from owning land near Wyoming’s Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, which is a strategic missile base. This measure requires the divestment of land used for crypto mining and the removal of surveillance-capable equipment, citing national security risks. The decision was made in coordination with the U.S. Committee on Foreign Investment (CFIUS), chaired by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. CFIUS is tasked with assessing corporate transactions for potential threats to national security, particularly those involving real estate near sensitive locations. This action coincides with the imposition of new U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports, highlighting increased vigilance over foreign investments in strategically important areas.
