Institutional settlement forms another part of the agreement, with Robinhood set to use $RLUSD on the $XRP Ledger (XRPL) through Bitstamp’s institutional business. The arrangement builds on $RLUSD’s existing Bitstamp listing, which began in January 2025.
Treasury Integration Covers Robinhood’s Global Operations
Beyond customer services, Robinhood will integrate Ripple Treasury to automate its global financial operations. Planned functions include cash and liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, payments, risk management, and intercompany netting. Netting offsets amounts owed between related businesses so they can settle fewer payments.
The integration follows an Oct. 26 expansion of Ripple’s corporate cash management capabilities, including AI tools for forecasting, reconciliation, liquidity management, and payments. That announcement also introduced returns on qualifying digital assets held in Ripple wallets, subject to program requirements.
The partnership gives stablecoin settlement a role alongside treasury software and institutional financing within the companies’ relationship. Johann Kerbrat, senior vice president and general manager of Robinhood Crypto and International, said:
“Utility is what moves stablecoins forward.”
Ripple Prime Deepens Bitstamp Trading Ties
An existing relationship between Ripple Prime and Bitstamp by Robinhood already provides lending and margin financing across roughly 20 digital assets. Ripple Prime clients can trade spot assets on Bitstamp, with support for perpetual futures trading planned later this year.
On Oct. 15, Ripple Prime introduced real-world asset perpetual swaps, covering more than 100 reference markets, including equities, commodities, and currencies. Eligible clients can use $RLUSD as collateral, subject to jurisdictional availability.
Separately, Ripple disclosed final approval for its national trust bank from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) on Oct. 26. Its approved activities include managing $RLUSD reserves, providing fiduciary digital asset custody, and serving as collateral trustee, administering reserves for holders’ benefit. Standard Custody & Trust Company, Ripple’s limited purpose trust company regulated by the New York Department of Financial Services, will continue issuing $RLUSD.
