Samsung will add $USDC transfers to its Samsung Wallet app for eligible US users in the last week of October, letting people on 82 million compatible Galaxy devices send Circle's dollar-pegged stablecoin to crypto wallets internationally or directly to bank accounts in more than 60 countries. Recipients receive funds in their local currency, making the feature a consumer remittance product that requires no separate crypto app or self-managed private keys.

How the Feature Works

Users must complete identity verification before accessing the service, and biometric authentication on a registered Galaxy device is required to authorize each transfer. Samsung said customers will fund transfers through integrated on- and off-ramps built into the wallet — the same app already used for payment cards, digital IDs and boarding passes. Samsung will charge no fees for $USDC transfers to compatible external crypto wallets, though international bank transfers will incur fees, and recipient wallets or exchanges may apply charges of their own.

The setup strips out most of the technical friction normally associated with stablecoin transfers. Users do not need to manage wallet addresses manually or install additional software; the experience is designed to sit alongside existing Samsung Wallet functions.

The Partner Network Behind the Launch

Samsung has assembled a multi-party infrastructure stack for the rollout. Solana and Sui will provide the underlying blockchain network support. Coinbase will custody the stablecoin through Coinbase Prime Vault, acting as sub-custodian. Bastion will supply the regulated stablecoin account and payment infrastructure. $USDC itself is issued by Circle and is the second-largest dollar-pegged token by market capitalization, widely used by institutions for its regulatory compliance profile.

Lily Liu, president of the Solana Foundation, framed the partnership as solving a distribution problem that has long limited stablecoin adoption. "Stablecoins have the potential to make moving money around the world faster and easier, and we want Galaxy users to be able to take advantage of that without having to navigate the complexity of traditional crypto tools," Liu said. Kevin Lehtiniitty, CEO of Borderless.xyz, predicted via LinkedIn that the Samsung model would pressure Apple and Google to follow: "Mass adoption was never going to come from people downloading crypto apps. It comes from the phone already in your pocket. I expect Apple and Google to follow, and when they do, sending money abroad will feel as easy as sending a text."

Why This Launch Matters

Embedding stablecoin transfers into a pre-installed wallet on tens of millions of devices addresses a challenge that cryptocurrency companies have historically struggled with: reaching everyday users who have no interest in managing crypto infrastructure. By routing transfers through Samsung Wallet — an app people already use for tap-to-pay and travel documents — the feature positions $USDC as a remittance rail rather than a speculative asset. The recipient side is equally important: funds arrive as local currency in a bank account, meaning the person receiving money abroad never needs to touch a crypto wallet.

Context and What Comes Next

The October launch is Samsung's first large-scale deployment of a plan the company outlined in August 2026, when it said it intended to add stablecoin savings and payment features to hundreds of millions of Galaxy phones globally. The US rollout is the opening step; Samsung has not announced a timeline for expansion to other markets, stating that future availability will depend on local regulation.

Samsung has also indicated it may later extend the stablecoin functionality to online payments and tap-to-pay transactions on eligible Galaxy devices, which would move the product beyond remittances into everyday commerce.
