The bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox lost 850,000 Bitcoin in investor money in 2024 and will begin to pay back its defunct users.

A recorded notice from the exchange dated June 24 states that Mt. Gox’s rehabilitation trustee will begin processing repayments in Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash beginning July 2024.

“The Rehabilitation Trustee will commence the repayments in Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash in due course to the cryptocurrency exchanges with which the Rehabilitation Trustee has completed the exchange and confirmation of the required information for implementing the repayments.”

Once more, the Trustee urged the consumers to be patient; the sequence of the payments will depend on the particular cryptocurrency exchange: “We shall start the repayments according to the cryptocurrency exchanges the Rehabilitation Trustee will finish and validate the necessary data with. Kindly wait some time until the repayments are made.”
