San Francisco-based Coinbase announced on Tuesday that usernames have been added to its Ethereum-based wallet, Coinbase Wallet, enabling easier peer-to-peer transactions.

According to the announcement, Coinbase has added support for both Ethereum ENS domains and traditional usernames (such as @sludgefeed). The ENS integration means investors can now send crypto to any .eth address while the new usernames support transactions for Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC), Ethereum (ETH), Ethereum Classic (ETC), XRP (XRP), Stellar Lumens (XLM), Dogecoin (DOGE), and all ERC-20 tokens (including USDC and DAI).
The update also makes it easier for users to send crypto to their linked Coinbase.com account.
“We believe these improvements will make cryptocurrency much easier to use and help drive adoption with a more mainstream audience,” states the Coinbase team. “Users can now easily send money to friends and business partners like they do with traditional payment apps, albeit globally and in crypto.”
Coinbase recently noted that it was being pressured to remove the dapp browser functionality from Coinbase Wallet to “comply with [Apple] App Store policy.” However, the latest announcement indicates that you can still use the browser to pick up your own ENS domain.
