In light of the ongoing legal dispute with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), cryptocurrency leader Binance has announced its humanitarian initiative to help victims of the recent earthquake in Morocco.
According to the information Binance Charity will distribute up to $3 million in BNB to Binance users living in the regions affected by this tragedy.
Binance has confirmed its commitment to help victims of the earthquake in Morocco. The Exchange will identify the eligible recipients of this assistance in Marrakesh-Safi Governorate using Proof of Address (POA).
The message also highlights:
Users in Marrakesh-Safi province who have successfully completed the POA before this date will receive $100 worth of BNB directly into their Binance accounts.
Any existing user who completes POA verification after September 9, 2023 but before September 30, 2023 will receive a $25 charitable donation, again in the form of BNB, directly to their Binance account.
Binance founder and CEO Changpeng Zhao opined:
We kindly ask Moroccan users who receive these donations but are not affected by the earthquake to pass the funds on to those most in need.
Additionally, for active users participating in transactions in Morocco but residing outside the affected regions, Binance promised to distribute $10 worth of BNB via airdrop:
We expect our efforts to reach around 70,000 Binance users who live in Morocco. The funds will start reaching our users on September 12, 2023.
