Former user received an email notification about repayment from Mt. Gox, the veracity of the email is unconfirmed.

A former user of the now defunct Mt. Gox claimed to have received an email notifying about repayment.

User DerEwige brought the matter to Reddit a couple of hours ago, stating “Mt. Gox users will all receive a part of their BTC back”.

As one of the users who filled out a claim, he was informed that the previous objection to it has been withdrawn. Thus, the self-approved rehabilitation claim has become effective.

Quoting the pasted email, “We received your email informing us of your intention to file a claim assessment procedure. However, on April 19, 2019, the creditors who objected to your self-approved rehabilitation claim withdrew their objections. As a result, the approval of your self-approved rehabilitation claim has become effective, and you no longer need to file an application for claim assessment. Even if you have received a PDF form of the application from the Rehabilitation Trustee, you do not have to submit the application.”

DerEwige’s interpretation to the email is that everyone who had any BTC on Mt. Gox would in the end receive some of their BTC back, regardless of they’re filling out a claim or not.

He also said that he can accept the fact that it may not happen soon and whether or not he will receive all his funds.

According to a verified confirmation earlier this month, victims' representative believed that Mt. Gox will need 2 more years, before they can repay their users.

Still, DerEwige expressed his excitement for the notification email as he said, “Yay can’t wait to receive the remains of the 0.01 BTC I had on MtGox at this time ^^”.

The thread received 25 responses as of writing time, with most of them are showing their pessimism, such as “Sounds like a phishing expedition to me” or “Yeah except you're probably receiving USD value of the BTC at that time, not the current”.

The email’s veracity is not yet confirmed, thus the claim is still unverified.

It will be interesting to see how it will turn out for Mt. Gox’s 24,000 creditors that have been left out of pocket for years after 850,000 Bitcoin was taken by hackers in 2011.
