It was announced today by CNBC that financial startup SoFi will be working cryptocurrency investment into its platform starting in Q2 this year. The company is teaming up with Coinbase in order to allow users to not only check the prices of crypto but also buy and sell coins.

The cryptocurrency trading ability will be integrated into SoFi Invest, which was just launched this month. It was not announced which coins will initially by offered but major ones like Bitcoin and Ethereum are somewhat of an obvious choice. Because this is made possible by a partnership with Coinbase, perhaps all coins available through the market leader will be accessible.

CEO at SoFi, Anthony Noto, had the following to say to reporters on Tuesday:

"Our target audience wants to see what the price of cryptocurrency is, and to buy it... They have a desire to do that and in many cases they already are."

SoFi originally launched in 2011 with a focus on refinancing student loans, but has expanded to offer a variety of financial products. Cryptocurrency is just the latest offering to come from the company and hopefully proves that crypto is beginning to get some mainstream love.
