The popular cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase Pro has added support to XRP trading pairs. Users will now be able to trade XRP against USD, EUR and also against Bitcoin (BTC). Order books will be entering on transfer-only mode, allowing users to send XRP in supported regions. The information was released by Coinbase in a blog post on February 25.
Coinbase Pro Lists XRP After Years of Rumours
After years of rumours and frustration among the XRP community, Coinbase Pro has listed the popular cryptocurrency XRP against the USD, EUR and Bitcoin. Users in the United Kingdom, the United States (excluding NY), the European Union, Canada, Singapore and Australia, will be able to have access to this virtual currency. In the future, new jurisdictions can be added.

Since February 25, the exchange will be accepting inbound transfers of XRP to Coinbase Pro. As soon as sufficient supply of XRP is established on the platform, it will be possible for users to start with post-only filling the order books. Coinbase informs that the XRP cryptocurrency is not yet available on Coinbase.com or via mobile applications. There will be separated announcements when that occurs.
There will be four stages to launch the XRP virtual currency. The blog post reads as follows:
“We will follow each of these stages independently for each new order book. If at any point one of the new order books does not meet our assessment for a healthy and orderly market, we may keep the book in one state for a longer period of time, or suspend trading as per our Trading Rules.”
The exchange will be informed via Twitter how the phases will be evolving. The first phase is transfer-only, followed by post-only, limit-only and, finally, full trading.
Coinbase explains that one of the most common requests they receive from customers is to be able to trade more assets on their platform. In the future, they will be adding support to more assets that meet their standards over time.
XRP is currently traded around $0.329 and it has a market capitalization of $13.64 billion. In the last 24 hours, XRP is the best performing digital asset among the top 10, growing almost 9%.
