The long-awaited Ethereum Dencun network upgrade has finally happened.
The Dencun upgrade, which is considered one of the most important events in the history of cryptocurrency and Ethereum and will bring the largest code change on the ETH blockchain, has officially taken place.
This update was recorded as the biggest update in ETH history after the Proof of Stake update that ETH underwent in September 2022.
According to the first data received, no errors were encountered and everything is going well.
After the Dencun upgrade, ETH price dropped to $3933. Fluctuating price movements in ETH are expected to continue during the day.
The Dencun network upgrade, which follows last year's Shapella upgrade, includes several changes.
Most importantly, temporary data blocks will be made available with EIP-4844, also known as “protodanksharding”, which will help reduce L2 transaction fees.
At this point, experts state that Layer-2 networks such as Arbitrum (ARB), Optimism (OP) and Polygon (MATIC) will benefit most from the Dencun upgrade.
