Uniswap has extended its VolatilePair dynamic-fee hook to Robinhood Chain, giving liquidity providers an $ETH/$USDG pool that adjusts the fees for buying and selling $ETH separately. Uniswap announced the expansion on Nov. 2.

The pool was initialized onchain on Oct. 29 at 7:28 p.m. ET. Its transaction records also show a completed swap, establishing that the new fee mechanism is already handling trades.

At about 10:11 a.m. ET on Nov. 2, Uniswap's Robinhood pool page reported roughly $3.5 million in total value locked and $24.9 million in 24-hour volume. That was less capital but more daily trading than the Ethereum $ETH/$USDC VolatilePair pool, which showed $4.5 million and $7.4 million, respectively, around 10:12 a.m. ET. Uniswap announced that mainnet pool on Oct. 14.

Different Fees for Buyers and Sellers

Unlike a static-fee pool that charges the same rate in either direction, VolatilePair recalculates fees using recent pool-price movements. When $ETH's pool price rises, the permanent buying fee rises and the selling fee falls by the same amount; a falling price reverses that adjustment.

A separate, temporary charge applies to trades that reverse a price move, while additional fees can build as prices move within a block. According to Uniswap's technical documentation, the algorithm reads the pool price, block number and trade direction—not the trade amount.

For liquidity providers, the goal is to retain more of the value otherwise captured by traders exploiting price differences. For traders, the consequence is that buying and selling can carry different costs, and a reversal trade can incur an extra charge.

The Robinhood pool was configured with a resting spread—the sum of its two permanent directional fees—of 2 basis points, versus 8 basis points for the Ethereum pool. At the neutral starting point, that means 1 basis point per direction on Robinhood versus 4 on Ethereum, before temporary or within-block additions. Those figures come from the pools' initialization records and the hook's fee configuration definitions.

The expansion also changes the dollar asset users trade against. Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum-compatible Layer 2, pairs $ETH with $USDG here rather than $USDC. $USDG is a Paxos-issued dollar stablecoin; its issuer says it is redeemable one-for-one for U.S. dollars.

Uniswap Labs sets the initial pool configuration, while Uniswap governance controls subsequent parameter changes and hook upgrades. The Robinhood pool page also lists a 50,000 $USDG liquidity-rewards allocation for Oct. 30 through Nov. 12.
