Aave Labs has launched Horizon, a new institutional platform enabling stablecoin borrowing against tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). The platform aims to merge institutional-grade compliance with the deep liquidity of decentralized finance (DeFi).
Centrifuge, Circle, Vaneck Among Partners for Aave’s Horizon Launch
Built on the Aave protocol, which holds over $62 billion in net deposits, Horizon allows qualified institutions to use tokenized assets like U.S. Treasuries and funds as collateral. This provides 24/7 access to capital-efficient stablecoin loans, according to the release shared with Bitcoin.com News.
The initiative addresses the underutilization of an estimated $25 billion in existing tokenized RWAs, which often remain locked in legacy systems. A network of major financial partners anchors the launch. This includes tokenization pioneers Centrifuge and Superstate, stablecoin issuer Circle, asset managers like Vaneck and Hamilton Lane, and the oracle and offchain data provider Chainlink.
