Ripple has announced a new partnership with the famous Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity).

The blockchain payments company disclosed this in a Fintech Finance article today. Ripple Managing Director for Europe Sendi Young also confirmed the development in a tweet.

Excited to announce @Ripple's partnership with @GOSHCharity – now Ripple’s primary UK nonprofit partner. We believe in the power of #blockchain to create positive change. Great example how we can use our resources to support children under cancer care and their families. https://t.co/eV0sfyzVWC

The partnership would see Ripple donate funds to the charity to support cancer care at the Great Ormond Street Hospital. In addition, the announcement disclosed that the partnership would see GOSH Charity become Ripple’s foremost nonprofit partner in the United Kingdom.

It will officially kick off in April to coincide with the 2023 TCS London Marathon Ripple disclosed. Notably, GOSH Charity is the official charity for the event, with over 1000 TeamGOSH runners participating to raise money to fight childhood cancer. As part of the partnership, Ripple disclosed that it would fund GOSH Charity’s rest and recovery room on April 23, when the race is slated to be held.

“We’re thrilled to announce our new partnership with GOSH Charity, who raise funds for GOSH, one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals,” Young said. “We can’t wait to support the vital work they do. At Ripple, we believe in the power of blockchain technology to create positive change, and this partnership is a great example of how we can use our resources to make a real difference to children at GOSH and their families.”

It bears mentioning that GOSH is the largest hospital for child heart surgery in the UK and one of the largest for heart transplants in the world. Founded in 1852 to treat childhood illnesses, the hospital remains dedicated to finding improved and innovative ways to care for children. The charity is a gateway for individuals and businesses to donate to the cause.

The GOSH Charity is the latest in Ripple’s long line of nonprofit partners operating in over 80 countries worldwide, per the Ripple website—the firm claims to have donated over $150 million to nonprofits since 2018.

Recall that the firm announced a partnership with Singapore venture capital Blockchain Founders Fund last week to support the global adoption of Web3 and blockchain technology.
