Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, announced the first cohort of the Artificial Intelligence Fellowship Program and expressed gratitude to the Shiba Inu community for making the fellowships possible. In response to a tweet announcing the fellows, Buterin stated. https://twitter.com/VitalikButerin/status/1549739807349383168

Existential Safety Research in AI

Students planning to conduct existential safety research in AI and beginning their Ph.D. programs in 2022 in the US, UK, or Canada are eligible for the funding. According to a post, the program will support eight students for their Ph.D. for five years, with the possibility of extending funding. The student's Ph.D. program's tuition, fees, and stipend will all be covered by the annual budget, up to a maximum of $40,000, and there will also be a fund of $10,000 available for research-related costs like travel and computers. Another award program will pay one student with an annual stipend of $80,000 and a fund of up to $10,000 through a postdoctoral fellowship. The fellowships don't relate to Shiba Inus. Nevertheless, the fact that the Shiba Inu developers had sent half of the token's total supply to have it removed from circulation last year suggests that Buterin was aware of the meme coins community. At the time, the tokens were worth billions of dollars.

Buterin Will Donate Remaining Shiba Tokens

Buterin didn't make a tidy profit when he sold the tokens. Instead, he decided to donate the remaining tokens to charity and burn or destroy 90% of the ones transferred to his wallet. This included a 50 trillion SHIB payment to the India Covid Crypto Relief Fund, a charity the Indian government established to help its residents during the outbreak. It was worth over $1 billion at the time.
