Leading French video game manufacturing company, Ubisoft Entertainment SA, has recently joined the Tezos network as a corporate baker.

According to an official press release, by becoming a corporate baker within the network, Ubisoft can now validate transactions (blocks) and add them to the Tezos blockchain.

Ubisoft became a corporate baker at Tezos to enable its Strategic Innovation Lab to extensively explore blockchain technology and be better able to anticipate and prepare for the future, providing Ubisoft with the abundant opportunities offered by innovative technologies.

The company will utilize its position as a corporate baker on the Tezos ecosystem to conduct experiments using the liquid proof-of-stake consensus algorithm and consider its vast potential to shape the future of online gaming.

Speaking on the move, Ubisoft’s Blockchain Initiative Director, Nicolas Pouard said,

We’re happy to be joining the Tezos ecosystem as a corporate baker. Ubisoft believes that blockchain has the potential to bring new possibilities to players and developers alike, and this new collaboration will allow us to pursue our innovation efforts with an ecosystem that aligns with our environmental-friendly approach thanks to its proof-of-stake consensus algorithm.

The firm will be working with Nomadic Labs, one of the largest research and development centers in the Tezos network, whose ultimate goal is to develop and increase the number of corporate bakers on the network.

The President of Nomadic Labs, Michel Mauny adds,

We are delighted to have worked with the Ubisoft Strategic Innovation Lab on their exploration of Tezos. Ubisoft is one of the first large companies to show interest in blockchain technology by testing several protocols through the years and we are happy to welcome them in our ecosystem. Their experience and vision will be an asset in the Tezos community.

The Tezos ecosystem has more than 400 corporate bakers scattered across the world, who help in securing and developing the network.

Just a few weeks ago, France’s oldest insurance company, Wakam, also joined the Tezos network as a corporate baker.
