Ripple's monthly unlocks are part of the firm's ongoing process to increase transparency and predictability around $XRP distribution. The company initially put 55 billion $XRP in escrow and released it in an organized fashion over time to manage the supply of $XRP entering circulation.
But not all of the 1 billion $XRP that was released stays on the market. In the past, Ripple has returned a large portion of the unlocked $XRP (about 700 million $XRP) to escrow while keeping some of it to facilitate operational needs, liquidity, and ecosystem-related activities.
October was a big month for Ripple and the $XRP ecosystem, as it saw a slew of announcements and updates for the $XRP Ledger. It also hosted two of the largest events for $XRP and Ripple: Swell and the $XRP Seoul events.
$RLUSD was listed on Coinbase in October, allowing retail and institutional clients to trade and manage $RLUSD through Coinbase Prime, Coinbase Exchange, and the Coinbase Retail app, with 1:1 conversion from U.S. dollars and other supported USD-denominated stablecoins into $RLUSD.
$XRP Ledger Eyes November Fix Upgrade
The $XRP Ledger is set for crucial fixes and improvements over the next few days. According to XRPScan data, fixCleanup3_4_0, which began its two-week activation window on Oct 21, 2026, after a reset in voting, now eyes the earliest activation date being 2:46 PM UTC on Nov 4, 2026.
Validator support for the fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment must stay above 80% for it to activate. If it slips to 80% or lower even once, the amendment is rejected and the 14-day timer starts over.
This fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment is a collection of fixes for Single Asset Vaults, the Lending Protocol, Automated Market Makers, the permissioned DEX, trust lines, NFTs, MPTs, Escrow, Sponsorship, transaction signing, and permission delegation.
The fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment is essential for Permission Delegation, which went live in October, as until it is enabled, users would not be able to delegate the PaymentBurn granular permission.
