Garlinghouse said he had heard people argue that Ripple was “leaning into $RLUSD” at $XRP’s expense. He rejected that, and reminded holders of something he says he has told them before.
“We will never do something we think is bad for the $XRP ecosystem,” he said, adding that such a move “makes no sense” to him.
He described $XRP and $RLUSD as complementary rather than competing. $RLUSD, he said, is one of several drivers of what he called “profound” momentum around $XRP.
Ripple’s Proof Points
To show how closely Ripple is still tied to $XRP, Garlinghouse listed the company’s commitments:
- Ripple is the largest holder of $XRP
- It is the most active contributor of code to the $XRP Ledger
- It has invested in a wide range of companies across the $XRP ecosystem
- It plans to keep investing “aggressively” there
How $RLUSD Helps The $XRP Ledger
Garlinghouse argued that a stablecoin living on the $XRP Ledger adds liquidity on-chain, which benefits everyone who uses the network.
He also revealed how $RLUSD is currently split:
- About half sits on the $XRP Ledger
- About half is on Ethereum
- The $XRP Ledger’s share has grown much faster over the past year
He said $XRP’s speed and scalability as a layer-1 blockchain make it “uniquely positioned” for use cases worth “many trillions of dollars.”
The Bigger Picture: Ripple’s Business Is Booming
The reassurance comes as Ripple’s revenue rises sharply. Garlinghouse said the company ended last year at a revenue run rate of about $300 million and expects to finish this year near $900 million. He said the growth is spread across payments, Ripple Prime and Ripple Treasury, which now reaches more than 1,000 corporates. He added that both major acquisitions Ripple made last year are performing “incredibly well.”
Why $XRP Holders Will Keep Watching
Much of that growth comes from products that do not need $XRP to work, which explains why the doubts have lingered. Garlinghouse’s message is that Ripple’s success and $XRP’s success are linked. The proof $XRP holders will look for is more of Ripple’s business moving onto the $XRP Ledger, and more of that activity using $XRP itself.
